Longtime oncologist joins Medical Center faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following addition to its faculty and leadership staff.

Dennis P. Morgan, M.D.

Dr. Dennis P. Morgan, a longtime oncologist with Baptist Medical Group in Oxford, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.

After receiving his B.S. in English and zoology from the University of Mississippi in 1982, Morgan earned his M.D. in 1987 at UMMC, where he had an internal medicine internship from 1987-88, an internal medicine residency from 1988-90 and a medical oncology fellowship from 1990-92.

Morgan served as a medical oncologist for Baptist Health Systems and at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson from 1992-97 and at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford from 1997-2001. He has been with Baptist Medical Group, formerly the Family Cancer Foundation and Mid-South Cancer Center, since 2001.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Medical Oncology, Morgan is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Internal Medicine and the Mississippi Society of Oncology.

He has served on numerous departments at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi, including stints as chairman, president of medical staff and chairman of the Department of Medicine.
